Uranus

Uranus is a gas giant discovered by the western world in 1871, many centuries after the Dogon tribe in Mali. Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the Sun and is probably the strangest planet in our solar system as it rotates on its axis at a 97 degree angle, compared to a 23 degree tilt of earth. This erratic tilt leads to severe changes in weather and extended periods of light and darkness at its poles. Symbolically speaking Uranus points to where unexpected things take place and where we can expect sudden and frequent change. Change is necessary for life as everything is in a constant state of motion; therefore on a Mundane level Uranus represents humanity, innovation, science and enlightenment. On a psychological level Uranus refers to our desire to break the mold, go against the grain and be free from the rigidity of boxes or labels.
