Mars takes about 687 days to orbit the Sun and is the planet that has been historically associated with competition, violence, and warfare. Mars has been called the God of War in the mythos and this is symbolic of the red hue it displays in the heavens. Red has always been an indicator of fire, passion, aggression, evil and bloodshed. From a psychological standpoint Mars indicates our energy level and excitability as well as how we outwardly project our emotions. On a physical level Mars is symbolic of physical strength, courage, athletic performance, and sexual vitality.
